I don't use dry pigs. But I get fish eyes with certain watercolor tube
pigments, namely those that are magenta-ish. However your cause is as you
suggest is probably the sizing medium.

I think Dick likes the Golden PVA medium for quick sizing in workshops. Easy
and quick for students to do in class without gassing everyone to death with
formalin.
