Jeff,

The ruby may not block enough of the visible light that the integrator
is responding to. If that's the case, maybe try a 3-stop neutral
density gel filter? Or even 2 of them if necessary? You may be able to
get 2 or more of them out of one 3" gel, depending on the diameter of
the probe.
