The Feric(III)/Ferrous(II) is not so bad. But several of the transition
metals have many oxidation numbers in different compounds, chromium
being the one we all know and love :), and the name forms are inconsistant
across countries, and do not exist for some cases.

Use the numbers if you know them, less chance of error.
