Oh Marek, what DO you MEAN "old-fashioned"???? For gum printing that little tool is the Rosetta Stone, state of the art, magical mentor and first resort. ANY problem can be handed to it, and odds are excellent that if it doesn't kiss you on the cheek and whisper answers in your ear, it will at the very least eliminate a bunch of variables.

In two words -- it's *measured density* -- that is, it's NOT a variable (as an image negative is, no matter how carefully metered, printed & exposed), rather it MEASURES your variables, and is most helpful of all with an unfamiliar process.
